Weekly Update #24

Math 7A and 7B
Students will be writing the Circles Unit Exam (Chapter 4) on Thursday May 2nd. We will be reviewing for the exam next week. After that, we will begin a unit on data analysis and we also have a short unit on geometry. I anticipate that we will have a full week of review in June to prepare for the final exam.

Math 8C

I just have one reminder this week that students will be writing the Unit 5 Exam tomorrow which covers ratios, rates, and percents. It was originally supposed to be today but I gave students an extra day as class was cut short yesterday for the Earth Day clean up. Students were given a practice test yesterday which is excellent study material for the unit exam tomorrow. I would strongly recommend that students use the practice test to study and go over the answers before the exam. Should they have any questions I am available tomorrow morning before school and at lunch. 

Today we started our next unit on algebra. We will continue this unit until the middle of May. After the algebra unit, there are short units on Data Analysis and Geometry. I anticipate that we will have a full week of review in June to prepare for the final exam.

Weekly Update #23

Math 7A and 7B
Students are currently working on the circle and geometry unit. So far we have covered area of parallelograms and triangles, as well as circumference of circles. Students will be writing a quiz tomorrow that covers these concepts. We have spent the week reviewing for the quiz and students are writing a practice quiz today to prepare.

The next few weeks of April are shorter due to the P.D. Day and Easter Break. It is important that students stay on top of material in class and complete assigned daily work. All the assigned daily work is posted to my blog (https://welzblogeljhs.blogspot.com/).

Math 8C
Students are currently work on Ratios, Rates, and Percentages. Before spring break students wrote a quiz on percentages and completed an assignment that calculated income tax and other pay deductions. The quiz and assignment have been graded and returned to students. Grades of zeros have been assigned to students that did not hand in the Tax Assignment. It is important that students hand in any missing work and ideally hand it in on time as grades of zero are detrimental to student's success.

After the break we have been working on ratios. Students will be writing a ratios quiz tomorrow which we have spent the week reviewing for and students are writing a practice quiz today to prepare.
