Weekly Update #5

Math 7A and 7B
Students are currently working on Unit 3A: Operations with Decimals. This unit is primarily a review of numeracy skills and a lot of basic elementary math concepts. Students have a quiz tomorrow that covers their addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division skills. Next week we are working on  order of operations which is the last topic of this unit. Students should expect a Unit Exam in about two weeks.

Math 8C
Students are currently working on Unit 3: Operations with Fractions. Students have a quiz tomorrow that covers multiplying fractions. Next week we are working on division of fractions and order of operations with fractions. Students should expect a Unit Exam in about two weeks.

An assignment on multiplication of fractions was due today. If the assignment was not handed in by a student you will see a "missing" and "late" symbol on PowerSchool. I mentioned this is an earlier weekend update but Ii is important that students ensure that they hand in assessments in a timely manner. It is important in Junior High that students start to take ownership of their own learning. If students do not take the opportunity to complete an assessment, they may receive a zero. As well, students may only work to complete tasks in the current reporting period. Therefore, once report cards are issued, marks are locked and zeros will be reluctantly awarded (if you see a grade of zero on PowerSchool students are still allowed to complete this assessment as long as it falls in the same reporting period).

Reporting Periods:Term One: Sept 4 - Dec 2Term Two: Dec 3 - March 31Term Three: April 1 - June 2
